Sinopse
The play addresses the sequels of the 1929 crisis, which reminds us of the one we’re still going through. Depression and unemployment run high, but despite the austerity measures taken by the Government, the characters meet at an amusement park to have fun, drink and forget about their problems. There are zeppelins, freak shows, roller coasters, slides, music and alcohol. At a time when we watch nationalist arguments rising everywhere, demagogic, empty and megalomaniac arguments like those Trump comes up with, nothing better than diving into the life of these characters and living through their silences. Celebrating beer’s sour taste... Drinking and dreaming... They’re allowed to do anything. In this play, the author makes us follow Kasimir and Karoline, a couple in love. He is out of a job, desperate, while she works. For a moment, they want to enjoy all the park has to offer: the lights, the music and the dream. But then they disagree, fight and break up, and the wound opens up. The despair from which they were running is now in plain sight. What will become of us when these policies are over? Will they ever be over? Is there hope? But Kasimir and Karoline love each other. It is also a story about love. Can there be love in times of crisis? — Tónan Quito
