Sinopse
This performance explores Franz Kafka’s unusual universe with all its bleak imagery, leading the spectator to the recesses of the human mind where the Kafkaesque shadows and beasts wander. A patchwork performance looking to balance reality and hallucination, organic and mechanic, and metaphysics and the need to solve it, making use of space, actor, puppet and word.
Teatro de Marionetas do Porto was formed in 1988. The company’s theatrical practice reveals a non-conventional way of looking at puppets, whose very concept has been continuously updated, and an understanding of puppet theatre as a poetic and visual language reminiscent of contemporaneity. We look for new ways of designing puppets – ultimately kinetic objects –, and new possibilities of exploring this theatrical language in terms of interpretation and crosscutting relation with other forms of expression like dance, fine arts, music and image. The company performs in the city of Porto, where it conquered a strong audience, and travels extensively around the country and abroad.
