Sinopse
Without actors, "Pendiente de Voto" [Pending Vote], created by Catalan Roger Bernat, turns the audience into a main character. The theatre becomes a parliament where each spectator is given a remote control, with which he can vote, and is invited to take a stand on several subjects: from the simplest ones to the more complex ones, from political issues to his favourite song.
Roger Bernat’s theatre is a collective lab containing the utopian aspirations and the authoritarian fantasies of a community. The spectator ceases to be a privileged witness to become an actor in a drama who refuses to be nothing but a victim and accepts the risk of turning into a performer. His better-known plays are “Domini Públic” [Public Domain] (2008), “La consagración de la primavera”[The Right of Spring] (2010), “Please Continue: Hamlet” (2011), “Pendiente de Voto” [Pending Vote] (2012), “Desplazamiento del Palacio de La Moneda”[Displacement of the Palacio de la Moneda] (2014), “Numax-Fagor-plus” (2014), “No se registran conversaciones de interés” [No Interesting Conversations Recorded] (2016-17) and“The Place of the Thing” (Documenta 14, 2017). Roger Bernat’s performances received several critique awards, and in 2017 he was granted the Sebastià Gasch Award for Theatre-related Arts.
