Sinopse
Rooted in Courtney May Robertson’s performance HUNTER, this masterclass explores the porous boundary between the living body and non-living materials. In HUNTER/b> Robertson appears alongside a life-sized doll replica of herself. Drawing from the research that underpins this work, participants are invited to enter embodied states that soften the divide between human and object. We’ll consider how memory, environment and cultural narratives inform our interactions with physical matter, and how building empathy toward ‘non-living’ forms can emerge through rituals of contact. Participants will co-create imaginative landscapes and new relational possibilities, questioning what it means to be animate, inanimate, human, or ‘other.’

Author's bio text
Courtney May Robertson (Scotland, 1992) is a Rotterdam-based performer and interdisciplinary maker. Trained in dance, she has collaborated with leading European choreographers since 2013 while developing her own work alongside. Merging a range of disciplines — video art, computer coding, puppetry — her work explores themes that challenge binary thinking and engage audiences in raw, sensorial experiences. Influenced by underground noise music and her background in physical disciplines such as competitive cheerleading, her work balances visceral expression with extreme precision. As a nomadic maker, she continuously evolves her practice across diverse production contexts.
