Sinopse
Rules, fear, laziness and distraction. Ferrandini says “a life without strength and without faith may lead to repetition that gets us nowhere, but that may bring some social validation. It does not mean no longer suffering or losing hope in a more real, fuller life.”. In the end, one returns to the beginning, as if in a cyclic effort, suggesting the myth of Sisyphus. Can there be salvation? The truth of the body and the faith one finds after such tragic violence is all that’s left.
Gabriel Ferrandini is an energetic Portuguese drummer who started playing the drums at age 13. He is a member of Red Trio, Rodrigo Amado Motion Trio, Lisbon Freedom Unit, Ketu, and Nobuyasu Furuya Trio and Quintet. He also plays in duet with Pedro Sousa, Pedro Gomes and David Maranha, namely in the scope of Volúpia das Cinzas. He played with musicians such as Thurston Moore, John Butcher, Nate Wooley, Jason Stein, Alberto Pinton, Rob Mazurek, Carlos Zíngaro and Alex Zhang Hungtai, among others.
John Romão is the artistic director of BoCA – Biennial of Contemporary Arts, which places in dialogue artistic territories (performing arts, visual arts, performance and music), cultural facilities (theatres, museums, galleries, and also nightclubs and public places) and audiences. The second edition takes place between March 15 and April 30 in the cities of Lisbon, Porto and Braga simultaneously. Carrying on its partnership with Teatro Municipal do Porto, BoCA puts forward a series of actions on March 30 and 31, such as the debut presentation of “Os Animais e o Dinheiro” [Animals and Money], a lecture-performance by Gonçalo M. Tavares & Os Espacialistas that makes the audience reflect and move; and the world premiere of “Rosa. Espinho. Dureza” [Rose. Thorn. Hardness], the first creation for the stage by one of the most promising names in Portuguese contemporary music, drummer Gabriel Ferrandini, who serves us a torrent of energy divided into three acts: Work, Sex and Love. For two days, one experiments with formats, making new creators known, and having established creators facing new approaches to their bodies of work.
