Fantasporto

The 37th edition of Fantasporto – International Festival will be held from 20 February to 5 March at Teatro Rivoli. This festival is considered one of the most important in the world, for its innovation and research into new values and cinematographies outside breakdown channels, making way for independent films and fantasy films. The development of new Portuguese cinema complements the programme, in which meetings are fundamental, taking advantage of the presence of more than 100 guests connected with the films to be presented, many of them in European or even international pre-première. The competitive sections will continue: fantasy cinema, the Manoel de Oliveira Directors Week, the traditional Orient Express and the Portuguese Cinema prize, in addition to the tributes and retrospectives that will naturally be the centrepiece of another edition of this Festival.
A highlight of the Retrospectives will be the first showing in Portugal of Taiwan action cinema and the also little-known horror films of Argentina. We will also be able to see, in partnership with TV Globo, unreleased episodes from three ranges and soaps created in the context of Fantástico, bringing well-known figures from Portuguese television to Porto.
