Sinopse

Written by award-winning African-American writer Suzan-Lori Parks, The United States vs Billie Holiday follows the iconic jazz singer (played by a magnetic and visceral Andra Day) who, at the height of her career, was the target of relentless persecution by the authorities Americans, in an attempt to prevent her from singing the moving protest ballad “Strange Fruit”, an evocation of the lynchings of black people in the south, and which would become an anthem of the human rights movements to this day.
