Sinopse
Since its 2014 debut album, “Quest”, the duo has been claiming its own sound and aesthetics, displayed in film works and several artistic collaborations. In this concert they join Drumming GP, an ensemble in residence at Teatro Campo Alegre in the scope of the Teatro em Campo Aberto programme, and an international reference when it comes to perform and premiere major classical, but also electronic music percussion repertoire. Based on collective experiments aiming at exploring the textures and ambiences typical of Gama and Fernandes’ music, Drumming GP also takes on the role of “composer” alongside the duo, thus creating a unique sound universe, which is enhanced by Pedro Maia’s visual textures.
Drumming Grupo de Percussão is a percussion ensemble devoted to contemporary music that was founded — and has been directed — by Miquel Bernat in Porto, in 1999. It has since established itself as one of the most important collectives of its kind at an international level, adding to sound innovation without neglecting the educational and social aspects. It is one of the companies in residence at Teatro Campo Alegre, in the scope of the Teatro em Campo Aberto programme.
Ever since their 2014 debut album, “Quest”, which was presented at Teatro Rivoli in June 2015, Joana Gama and Luís Fernandes have been working together crossing piano and electronics. In recent years, the duo has composed sound tracks and, together with Ricardo Jacinto, edited “Harmonies”, which was co-produced by Teatro Municipal do Porto and presented during the 85th anniversary of Teatro Rivoli, in 2017. In April 2018, Australian record label Room40 released their album, “At the Still Point of the Turning World”.
