Catarina Miranda is the guest choreographer for Companhia Instável’s new 2026 creation. Her research interweaves movement, scenography and light, approaching the body as a receptacle of transformation and of the visceral awareness of the present. ЯΛ́ЯΛ is a creation for five performers centred on the power of dance and musical phenomena in collective celebrations, inspired by the Entrudo of Galicia and Northern Portugal, the Rara festivities of Haiti, and the Urso Macaco Louco of Pernambuco’s Carnival — evoking soundscapes and a collective body that moves between machine, animal and instrument.— Companhia Instável

Catarina Miranda develops projects that interweave dance, voice, scenography and light, exploring the body as a vehicle for transformation and awareness of the present. She holds a degree in Visual Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto, and a Master’s in Choreography (EXERCE, ICI-CCN Montpellier). Her works, including ΛƬSUMOЯI, CABRAQIMERA and DREAM IS THE DREAM, have been presented at venues such as the Centre Pompidou, Palais de Tokyo, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Serralves Museum. She collaborates with Companhia Instável as a teacher and guest artist.
Instável – Centro Coreográfico is a vibrant and informal space functioning as an incubator for creators and performers. Founded in 1999, it is dedicated to artistic creation, training, dissemination, support for artists, research and audience development. Each year, it invites a renowned choreographer to create an original work, having collaborated with artists such as Wim Vandekeybus, Rui Horta, Karine Ponties, Hofesh Shechter, Victor Hugo Pontes, Clara Andermatt, among many others.
