Sinopse

Takumi and his daughter Hana live in a village near Tokyo modestly and in harmony with the cycles of nature. But a project to build a glamping park – luxury camping – threatens to destabilize the community, interfering with the water supply and profoundly unbalancing the lives of those who live there. An allegory about the price we pay for disrespecting nature, Evil Does Not Exist delivers a familiar message, but one whose impact here is tremendous. The director's arresting visual language is associated with the irresistibly beautiful soundtrack by Eiko Ishibashi, who had worked with Hamaguchi on the Oscar-winning Drive My Car, in a film that was received with an eight-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival, and which was worth the Hamaguchi won the Grand Jury Prize, followed by other awards at various festivals, making it one of the most anticipated premieres of the year.
