Roter Himmel

The environment warms, literally and figuratively, in nature and among human beings, in the reality we share and also in Christian Petzold's latest film, the second volume in a series of works inspired by the four elements, beginning in 2020 with the aquatic Undine. It's fire's turn in this emotionally searing drama in which four young people find themselves trapped by forest flames in a holiday home on the Baltic Sea. The temperature rises between them, catalyzing love and desire, resentment and jealousy, in a combustion that threatens to consume their souls eager for some kind of liberation.
