TEATRO DA DIDASCÁLIA

The play is a poetic performance unveiling an intricacy of symbolisms and archetypes, and reviving in our unconscious the belief in the intuitive and supernatural power of women, which is intimately connected to nature and to the cycles of death and renewal. The beautiful and sensitive musical score, together with the oral narration, entangles the stories in the play and touches our inner being. Listening to it we are kind of shaken by a whirlwind of images and emotions kept in the voice of the ones who sing and tell it, and within those who listen to it. That is the key to carry the audience on a sensible, almost hypnotic journey towards their deep emotional memory.

Teatro da Didascália was founded in 2008 and theatrical creation is the main activity. It aims to create a language of its own in the portuguese theatre scene by combining research and aesthetics. The company develops an intense and continuous body research work that together with the texts uses the body as an experimental tool, thus creating original languages and drama, investing on a dramatic writing that is visually attractive and universal, capable of attracting and gathering a demanding audience.
